I agree
that we need to outline and take next steps. Here is my list:
1.
Identify the list of founding partners, have a conference call among them to
confirm their participation.
2.
Agree that we should edit my write up into a "final form".
3.
Generate prospect list of private bankers and decide on who/how to
contact. Concerning "who", is Derrick carrying the ball or
someone else? Concerning how, ask for conference call versus in
person meeting. The relative costs of conference call vs. in person
meeting (in terms of time and expense) are self evident. What is the
relative effectiveness of call versus meeting? This may vary across the
prospects.
4.
Draft transmittal letter that would attach write up of fund and ask for
conference call or meeting.
5.
Agreement among founding partners.
Based on
both the above and my P.S. below, we have much to talk about.
P.S.
Concerning "other individuals", I want to tell you about a friend of
mine,
Roger Vaughan, who I first met in
1970 at the first day of my graduate studies at Univ
of Chicago. Roger also received his Ph.D. in economics. He started
his career in the NY office of RAND in economic development. He was a founding editor
with me of Water Strategist, and worked with Lisa and I in the 1980s and early
1990s on water matters at Stratecon. In 1992
(or 93?), Roger "took a sabbatic" and went
to eastern europe to work on the transition from
communism to markets. He never came back. He married a Ukrianian beauty who is
extremely smart and involved in the "emerging markets" in the Ukraine. Roger got hooked on this
work and her, resigned from Water Strategist, and stayed in Eastern Eurpoe, including buying a house in the Ukraine where his mother-in-law lives in
the house with Roger and his wife. We keep in touch. While I have
not talked with Roger in the last two years, the last I know Roger was in Albania (after putting together the welfare
system of the Ukraine), working ( think) on water
quality!
In any
event, Roger his a guy who shares our views towards
markets, liberty, decentralization, etc., and also has been "on the
ground" for years now trying to help build institutions in the former USSR and republics. He can help on
matters of economics, but also of local institution building.

Perhaps,
more important was my excellent conversation with Augusto who not only
understands what we r trying to do but is gearing up right now to involve the
rest of the 600 guides to get with the program.
The
bottom line is that your CWF overview reads extremely well, perhaps a comma or
2 in the first section could be added which says everything about how well
written it is.
I
want us to think thru a series steps including the fact that I should get
within a week the email list of those guides, and again this cookie cut
business model which comes together by working “all the angles”
including exposing the hypocrisy of those who refuse to address the DeBeers
Diamond Cartel cannot and will not escape the attention of every single rich
person in the world.
Perhaps
one of the things we should do in terms of “action steps” is to
come up with a list of private bankers and then to brainstorm together a sales
strategy I have been thinking about ever so carefully.
The
fact that my good friend Ron “Duffy” Bellows while thank G-d
is still alive, no evidence, however, that he is not in handcuffs given the
progress being made in voice recognition is something folks like Augusto cannot
I suspect fully sink their teeth in to but I could be wrong.
There
is every possibility that folks like Augusto while worrying if not about their
next meal know perfectly well that their governments want them to disappear
into thin air understand fully the implications of Spitzer’s
“wow” and refreshing lawsuit.
And
we should not forget that others might be more articulate than me in convincing
these folks of the actual power they have in getting the likes of Ron’s current boss
Maurice Greenberg to get with the program and then it will be lights out for
all of us, again I not only assume Ron is getting a paycheck from
AIG but the feds as well, but more importantly the p/e of Coke at 15 odd while
well below the average public corporation is in my estimation about 3 times
higher than it would be once the 3rd world understands that they
hold the key bringing Coke’s share price into line with any business
whose business model has a negative growth rate, agree?
Again
just to put things in perspective knowing what I know about the “risk
markets” I wouldn’t buy a share of Coca Cola for one single dollar
unless I knew I could turn around in the very same instant and sell it for
more.
We
can all make all sorts of jokes that make for interesting conversations when
sitting around a table bullshitting but the time is fast approaching another
Crystal Nicht, there really is no time left but to enjoy each and every moment
that remains while thinking ever so carefully about our own mortality and what
if I am right, and I am quite certain, that not only does G-D exist but he-she
watches each and every one of our moves deciding at light speed how each and
every one of us will be “gifted” the next time around.
