Dear Dean
Light,
For the
past 2 hours I have been engaged in a “dialogue” with a Harvard Publishing
customer service representative.
It began as
you can read at 2:14 Eastern Time and is in fact still ongoing.
I think you
will find it interesting as well as what I sent Drew Faust last evening:
Please wait
while we find an agent to assist you...
You have been connected to Brian .
Brian : Thank you
for contacting Harvard Business School Publishing. How can I help you?
Gary Gevisser:
Again, I am wanting to make a contribution to
Brian : Would you
mind holding. I would have to double check on that.
Gary Gevisser:
Take your time.
Brian : Hello,
thank you for holding. Please contact Evan Gallivan at 617 384 5654, he is a
coordinator in the donor relations department. He can locate the correct person
at HBS for you to speak with.
Gary Gevisser:
Do you possibly have an email address for him?
Brian :
egallivan@hbs.edu.
Gary Gevisser:
Excellent. Could I copy you on my follow up?
Brian : Certainly.
My email address is bgalvin@hbsp.harvard.edu.
Gary Gevisser:
I am just waiting to see if I can get Evan online. In the meantime can you tell
me if you have heard of the Diamond Invention written by
Brian : I have
not.
Gary Gevisser:
Just a little background. Twice I was given the opportunity to head up the
DeBeers-Anglo American Cartel which is rather accurately portrayed in this most
fascinating non-fiction book that is currently only available on the Internet.
See if you can access it and I will then try leading through it.
Brian : Is there
one of our titles I may be able to help you with, sir?
Gary Gevisser:
Well you have in fact just hit on a very important point; namely why The
Diamond Invention is not one of your titles:
Gary Gevisser:
Furthermore, there is something else that you can do for me while I wait to
hear back from Evan Gallivan. but first tell me if you are familiar with what I
sent Drew Faust last evening?
Brian : I am not. However, if you are interested in
submitting this title for publication through us you may do so by following the
guidelines via the link below.
Brian :
http://harvardbusinessonline.hbsp.harvard.edu/b01/en/common/util_contact_guidelines_hpress.jhtml
Brian : Is there anything further that I can help you
with?
Gary Gevisser:
Yes. I wasn’t sure whether you got my
earlier point about an email I sent yesterday
to Drew
Faust or whether you were ignoring me?
Brian : I did receive the link. However I would recommend
submitting that information via the link I provided you with as well.
Unfortunately I can only assist you with our catalog. A request such as this
would need to go to our editorial coordinator.
Gary Gevisser: Thank you. Can we now come back to this
email I sent Drew Faust President of Harvard?
Brian : Yes, sir. I would not be familiar with the letter
sent to Mr. Faust because he is with
Gary Gevisser:
BTW Drew Faust is a woman. Can I interest you in reading what I sent her?
Brian : I
apologize I mistyped. You may certainly send it to me. What can I help you with
in regards to the letter?
Gary Gevisser:
I would like to get your feedback. Take your time as I am still waiting for
Evan to get back to me:
Gary Gevisser:
From: Gary S. Gevisser
Gary Gevisser:
I seem to be having a problem "cutting and pasting" it. Tell if you
can click on this next hyperlink
http://nextraterrestrial.com/pdf/dfaust-recompense.htm
Brian : I am
having some difficulty with the link. You may email it to me if you wish.
Gary Gevisser:
Let me know when you get it.
Brian : I am
still having trouble opening the link. Is it possible to send to copy the body
of the PDF into an email?
Gary Gevisser:
Try now and let me know otherwise I will try cutting and pasting again
Brian : Still not
luck.
Gary Gevisser:
Did you receive the email?
Brian: Just the first one.
Gary Gevisser:
Let me know when you get the second one. It may take longer as the email to Ms.
Faust was some 1776 words. Let me know when you have read it. I am still
waiting to hear back from Evan.
Brian : I have
received it and read it.
Gary Gevisser:
What do you think?
Brian : I do
apologize, but I can only assist you with inquiries regarding Harvard Business
School Press and our product line. I certainly appreciate you taking the time
to email me and I would be happy to help you with any inquires you may have in
regards to our catalogue.
Gary Gevisser:
Are you familiar with
Brian : I am not.
Gary Gevisser:
Sorry for the delay. I was just looking at a list of
Brian : You may
certainly send you a copy if you wish.
Brian : In
regards to Harvard Business School Publishing. Is there anything further I can
help you with?
Gary Gevisser:
Yes, i am working on putting the finishing touches to my forthcoming book, THE HISTORY OF MONEY CREATION AND ITS
FUTURE! subtitle, which my wife also named, "A Message For The President!".
I am also about to put on my first combined seminar –“workshp” [sic] with my one American “programer” [sic]
Brian : I can certainly log our feedback.
Brian : rather
your feedback.
Gary Gevisser:
Very excellent. Would you be interested in "moonlighting" for me?
Brian : Thank you for the offer, but not at this time.
Gary Gevisser:
Would you be kind enough to let me know should your situation change? Could you
also let me know what compensation package I would have to
"beat"?
Brian : I will
keep you in mind; thank you.
Gary Gevisser: Can you tell me how long you have doing
this as well as whether you felt your as well as my feedback was
"worthehile” [sic]?
Gary Gevisser: Can you tell me when we began our
communication? My computer clock say 12:52 PM PST.
Gary Gevisser:
Actually 12:51
Brian : 2:14 est.
Gary Gevisser:
Can you help me with the math. Have we been "going" now for 1 hr and
23 minutes?
Brian : 1 hr and 44 mins.
Gary Gevisser:
I don’t know about you but I consider it a very
valuable use of my time given how I have had the opportunity during this time
to also examine in detail the bios of a good number of the Harvard Business School faculty members
who I will be inviting to our "fortchomcing" [sic] "semnar" [sic]-workshop that in fact has begun with this dialogue. “Welsome” [sic]!
Brian : Excellent. I am glad you found this to be
positive.
Gary Gevisser:
Can you just stay online a little longer. I want to send you
"sumthing" [sic]?
Brian : Thank sir and I certainly do appreciate your
thoughts and feedback. But I will have to end the chat if you do not have a
question about our product line.
Gary Gevisser:
Just based on everything that you have read, do you think there is chance
Harvard would be interested in publishing my forthcoming book?
Brian : Unfortunately it is not something I can comment
on because books are handled by a separate department. I certainly encourage
you to submit your work though.
Gary Gevisser:
What department are you with?
Brian : Customer Service.
Gary Gevisser:
Did you go to college and if so where?
Brian : I apologize Sir, but I can only answer questions
dealing with the publishing company.
Gary Gevisser:
Do you have dreams of starting your own publishing company or do prefer working
for someone else not knowing one minute from the “enxt” [sic] whether you will be
handed a "pink slip"?
