Subject: RE: ....2 DAYS AGO ....Are you on...
I’ll try waiting but not
necessarily before the collapse of the world’s capital and financial markets
for Frank’s email which shouldn’t prevent Frank from making me an offer that “I
cant refuse” but Marie who has 51% control, me 1% of the time, may
still “smell a mouse” [sic], not to mention that MDG
in the middle of the night last night here at our stone home deep in the so
quiet Cleveland National Forest using her powerful long legs
to trap in my “secretary” who appeared to be filing away all my papers and when
I looked earlier after Marie had returned to Del Mar, no doubt to get back at
me, the mouse and no doubt a whole bunch of friends that possibly included
family members had torn to shreds papers I have kept for donkeys years?
Below is the more recent “back
and forth” between Dave and myself and while he has yet to inform me
that he has shut down the food section of the Red Lion, I am not sure I have
enough of a “red flag” to warrant “pulling the plug” given how the only backup
I have for sure right now is Rebecca who is only willing to pay some 50 pounds
a month less and Rebecca has no experience that I know of running a restaurant?
But with that said I do have
to wonder what Dave meant when he said, “… another good month have a good staff…”
which begs the question if Dave cannot get a liquor license at Seacrest, and I
can certainly understand very influential neighbors like Mike objecting, what
will Dave be able to achieve over the next two years versus anyone else we
know?
In other words, I have to go
back to what’s going on with my lawyers who are beyond a shadow of a doubt
“dragging their heels” in getting me back with what should be a very
straightforward lease given how they have now had the “nuts and bolts” of it
for a month now, not mention the last I heard from Sunderland was more than 2 DAYS AGO when he emailed me, “Lease now
drafted and out for typing”?
In other words, it
increasingly looks to me that there is the “fix in” for me and not necessarily
Dave who while “rough around the edges” could just be the White Knight we are
looking for and folks like Mike seeing that we might possibly have found the
right type of operator and eventual owner of Seacrest who has his own bed and
breakfast two houses away from Seacrest has decided, not to forget how much
time Mike has on his hands, bearing in mind this very sophisticated banker has
yet to send me an email, to “fire a shot across the bow” at ME when now leading
a petition to oppose the new owners of what has ALWAYS been a restaurant-bar
from getting a liquor license.
Do you understand what it is
precisely that I am saying?
Let me try and be clearer as
I focus on dropping more bombshells on the so drugged and individually
competitive western world that following the Bretton Woods Conference of 1944
while enslaving the militarily weak nations lost its ability to see the
benefits of “team work” thinking that watching Monday Night Football on TV
would make up for the lack of sweating in the workplace while being so quick to
put down the Chinese in their “sweat shops” looking happier with each passing
moment, not to mention Jan Smuts who pioneered the concept of “holism”, defined as "the tendency in nature to form
wholes that are greater than the sum of the parts through creative
evolution" in his 1926 book, Holism and Evolution, to mention
little of no “love lost” by the opponents of Smuts
who was set to takeover from Churchill were this DAAC drunk to have got killed or incapacitated during WWII, Smuts,
however, had to have gone to his grave in 1950 following defeat by the DAAC’s 3rd Reich’s Southern
division, with “sumwhat” [sic] of smile having got quite the recognition from
Einstein that he rightfully deserved.
Why would Mike be so bent
out of shape to place a monkey-wrench in the new owners of The Ship Aground pub
who have purchased a restaurant-pub business ASSUMING that they would have no problem from local residents in
being granted by the council a liquor license?
Unless I am missing
something really obvious it seems to me that Mike and Co. don’t have a fricken
leg to stand on when making the outrageous argument of denying the new owners a
liquor license because the Red Lion further down the street is “in trouble” and
therefore the need for the “CALL TO ARMS” just because of the POSSIBLITY that there will be
increased business at The Ship Aground pub that has been around for donkeys
years?
In other words, I happily
await Frank-Mike’s email.

Dave,
Im okay with that.
I will now proceed to have a
lease document in your hands before the end of the week.
I assume not only was your
vacation a good one but when you got back everything at the Red Lion was to
your satisfaction?
And the best regards to you.
Gary
I am only talking about revieing the liquor part of the agreement I fell that
by the end of 6 month we would have a better idea of what liquor sales /
profits would be possible in order to get a fair and better understanding of
what % would be available and how much of that would be needed for further
investment / purchase or growth
Best
regards Dave

I guess just to make sure he
cant just up & go after having maybe half 'renovated/changed stuff. I think
what Frank thinks is that he hasnt made a success of the red lion half as much
as he makes out & that he needs a place to go with a relatively cheap
rent!? Frank will email you, he does know alot about the place & people,
but I am also aware that hed probally rather still have me involved than Dave.
I just don't know! I like
Dave But I do get a few warning bells re the fact that the resturant part of
pub is now closed & he said he had a few offers for pub, if the resturant
was doing so well it wouldnt be shut, he would have a backup chef i would have
thought, my only other main concern is that alot in minehead depends on
personality & he is a bit 'rough' he does keep seeming to change what hes
doing but that might just be him trying to decide whats best.
I do wonder why somone would
put such alot into something that has a 2 year lease only, the red lion was
busy in the summer when i visited & the food was good, but it is easy in
the summer season with the influx of tourists, I wish I could be clearer.
I'm away till monday evening
from tommorrow morning but will check in as soon as back.
Can't find draught lease can
you remind me which mail its on or send again although wont be able to check
till back.
I wish I could be more
certain of the best thing & if Dave is.
Love Valerie
I maybe am just worrying
bout nothing, see what Frank mails, you'll either think hes way over the mark
or making sense.
I'm away

Just explain what
Frank means when he says, “he feels
quite strongly could be bad move!”
In other words what do you
think I need to have in the lease with Dave based on what I have already that
would make it “watertight”. Even if you don’t feel you know enough have a shot
at it.

Have half read this mail, very interesting will read in
full tommorrow, needing my bed now, but keen to read & learn.
Did speak Frank earlier
& Dave during day.
OK, I think Dave is genuine
but I think must point out few concerns I have, his resturant part of pub
is now closed as 'chef had wobbly while he was away' has had few interested parties in pub while was away
& is dealing with them, now back. The Ship Aground pub in harbour which has
always been major competition because of position, has been sold, if new people
in would be massive competition for red lion. Irritating mike from down the
road already getting petition toegether to council in opposition to a licensed
resturant.
I like Dave & believe he
is honest but possibility leaving red lion, moving seacrest as is cheap?? lots
willing chefs in minehead area, if cannot make pub resturant work out, could he
make seacrest work? I hate this! Believe if doesnt work in the 2 years then can
look again at situation later.
Have given Frank youre email
as he feels quite strongly could be bad move! He wanted to write to you as
then believes you could check his handwriting to prove he is being honest in
his belief/opinion, I said only email.
I am concerned but if lease
watertight should be safe & secure, Frank is there & feels strongly so
hope you dont mind if mails you
Love Valerie
