Gary,

It is okay to trim the bird of paradise, let me know if there are any other repairs and/or maintenance that needs to be done around there.

I do not know how to contact you and would like a call from you when you have time at 858-350-1445.

Thank you,

Jeff Smith

Subject: Studio rent

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Smith,

I apologize for my tardiness in getting u my rent check, not only would it be a “poor excuse” to tell u this was the result of a tenant of mine being late with his payment, moreover, it would be untruthful.

As important as it is to meet this critical obligation I simply had other priorities even tho it would have taken me all of a minute to pull out my check book, write a check and pop it in the mail as your real estate agent had requested.

One of my distractions is the work-play I am doing in putting the finishing touches to the book I am writing, Manager Minute One all about each and every one of us doing our best to be our own managers from Minute One, spelling out in “no uncertain terms” the hypocrisy of us older generation who assuming we have enuf of an education can be quite eloquent in shifting the burdens each of us inherited from the prior generation who tell the kids who question a little “tT∞ much” [sic], “U will have your chance to screw up” [sic] versus the poor and very often illiterate who simply instead of turning the non-vacuum of space between their offsprings’ ears into a perfect vacuum achieve the same results by smacking the hell out of the kids, just in “quicker” time.

I thought it important to know a little bit about me as well as my Partner-Wife Marie Dion who while not on the lease and oh so rather private has asked if it wouldn’t be much of a bother to have the birds of paradise cut that currently blocks her viewing the seagulls flying by when she wakes up in the morning.

One pitiful reason for my delay in not getting your rent on time was the letter altho addressed to me from your real estate agent, dated June 14th 2000, stated,

Dear Mr. Gevisser

This letter is to inform you that 227 – 27th St. has been sold and that you are to send your rent check to the new owners, Jeff and Cheryl Smith, 3533 Calle Gavanzo, Carlsbad, Ca 92009...

It so happens that my PW MD rents 227 27th street and I simply tossed the letter to the bottom of the heap containing a whole lot of mostly unopened mail, the possibility exists that there r in fact checks waiting for me to deposit to mention in passing it has been about 6 weeks since I visited my PO Box at the Del Mar Post Office but I have this thing about creating unnecessary “taxable events”, u very possibly when visiting this “one of a kind” studio noticed the photo copy stuck to the window of the front door of an article titled, Endless Universe which I penned.

And as incredible as it may seem considering the poor penmanship the editor of the Del Mar Times chose to publish recently, agree?

I must go but please again accept my apologies and let me know about the birds of paradise.

Sincerely yours,

Gary S. Gevisser
