As I started to mentioned when we last spoke, I have been divided with something.

Although I don’t believe in coincidences, I have had trouble lately believing that religion is the answer to them. It is my pragmatic nature that tells me that everything evolves to greater efficiency; take anything man has made that you interact with and think about how it evolved to its current state. A writing utensil has been around since man learned to communicate, but what we use today only resembles it predecessor in function. I believe everything from life, business, relationships, economies, communication is evolving towards efficiency. I say this about religion, because 200 years ago, the Quakers that settled in America mocked the beliefs of native Americans whom worshipped gods that they created to justify and explain their existence. This is where my pragmatism takes hold, as Jews we are taught to question, well, my question is of religion itself. It exists everywhere in the world but in a variety of forms, what or whom is to say which is right. More over, how long will it take for our world to evolve towards efficiency and realize that the gods the Indians prayed to for rain or before battle are no different then the God that we as a variety of religions pray to. I say evolve towards efficiency because as of the past few thousand years, religion has been as much a source of problems as it is beneficial. I was having this conversation with my business partner, he was raised Christian, and has relatively religious parents, yet he questions the things that his religions stance and some of the teachings. He said that if it wasn’t for religion and the template that it provides, that he would not be as nice of a person today. I personally don’t believe that, as I know people that are atheist and they are no better or worse than anyone else.

I am sharing this with you, not to throw down the gauntlet to prove me wrong, but because I thought you should be aware since it may be a conflict for what you may want my help with.
