I attended a wedding in December (christian Wedding) and the white Afrikaner priest said (when asking for the rings)

"The rings are a symbol of love and they have been a CHRISTIAN PRACTICE for many centuries as well as part of OUR CULTURE"

I sat with my mouth open and no-one could understand even when I tried to explain that this was never part of anyone's culture or practice.

Not to mention the diamonds on the one ring.
