Mike, I am still in state of shock a couple of hours after your partner's question, "Have you considered moving?"

Ms. Coogan first letting me know as I went about methodically bringing her up to speed on why my wife and I have been so patient, “We [City of Del Mar] don’t get involved in civil issues” and then in the next breath that we should “consider moving.”

So basically washing your hands of the whole issue?

Or washing your hands of us questioning.

The time frames for Mr. Beckham to get in compliance with the flagrant violations, threatening us with a retaliatory eviction, thumbing his nose at the City of Del Mar, once again, have been increased SIGNIFICANTLY.

Now he has until July 27th before getting a single dollar fine while folks get $600 tickets for walking 3 dogs without leashes, traffic and parking tickets etc etc that hit mostly the working poor?

Although Ms. Coogan made a point of telling me, "you got it wrong" when I explained to her how when you and I first met you pulled out your ticket book and showed me how I could rely on you, "although I do make mistakes" to "nail" the violators with fines, "first after 2 weeks...$500, then the next week $1,000, then $1,500, then $2,500…"

A far cry from when you had me sit down next to you, back I believe it was on Thursday June 23rd, in the foyer of the City of Del Mar's planning department, as you went about assuring me you understood Mr. Beckham's "game", that he had previously violated a building ordinance relating to his jewelry operation something to do with, "conducting business on the roof" of his converted garage on Stratford.

Here I am, willing to "stick my neck out" spelling out in "black and white" what Mr. Beckham has done wrong, providing you with irrefutable “smoking gun proof” of his painstaking approach to pulling the wool over your eyes, a photo to boot, his violations taking place in full view of the owners living next door who happened to have sold you the house you live currently live in?

What exactly is going on here?

All this time has passed, you well aware of everything that has been going on, Mr. Beckham’s threats, his repeated failure to address the problems of the tenant living in the illegal unit WITH a stove in full view?

From the beginning we have had electrical breaker going off as a result of too many light going on, not even major appliances.

Now to be told while you are away from the office that I should "consider moving" bearing in mind your assurances, "I treat landlords and tenants the same."

Better I take my tail stick it between my legs, act the way tenants who are assumed to be poor as well as stupid should behave and not get up to in Mr. Bechham's words "mischief" to mention little of when I called you on June 30th abiding by your request, you advised me that you had spoken with Beckham who played his "victim role" so well, "Am I in trouble? Should I remove myself fromn the situation and let you just deal with the owners [Knutsons]"?

In light of these disconnects we have decided now to move along with our lawyers and file a lawsuit against Mr. Beckham, the landlords et al.

Very disappointed tenants,

Gary + Marie Gevisser
